As we patiently wait for spring to finally take hold here in the Midwest, making all things new again, I have some exciting news from Church Doctor Ministries and SEND North America. Sarah Kolb has recently accepted the call to be the Church Doctor Ministries SEND North America Movement Leader.
Sarah has two years of SEND training experience and, in her third year with SEND, is currently leading a SEND team in Indian River, Michigan. Sarah will be relocating to northeast Indiana to oversee the growth and advancement of the SEND North America Movement. Sarah’s duties will include working with young adults; leading workshops, presentations, and immersion experiences; and developing mission, leadership, and discipleship experiences to equip and send young adults to be missionaries to their own social networks.
Sarah will also be serving alongside a team of other ministry leaders developing SEND+, an opportunity for active older adults to receive missionary training. In addition to advancing the SEND North America movement, Sarah will be working with a team to launch a new vision for SEND Faith Life Training Centers across North America.
We are excited to have Sarah serving in this new role on our team and ask for your continued prayers for Sarah as she follows God’s call to this new adventure.
If you are interested in learning more about SEND North America and know a young adult who is faithful, available, and teachable who may be a candidate for further mission and leadership training, please connect them with Sarah, email@example.com, or Jon Hunter, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Young adults ages 18 to 25 wishing to join the next SEND team may complete the application at this link.

We are back for our 2nd year for SEND North America! Servants Equipping New Disciples is a training process in discipleship and missionary training for young adults ages 18-30. SEND was launched on October 1st of 2012. We are about half way through our journey until next June. We have a couple courageous young men who have signed on for the adventure. Peter and Patrick have dedicated themselves to draw closer to God in order to discover what God’s call is for their lives. They will also be equipped to do what God calls them to do in life as modern day disciples and missionaries! Throughout this process we are honored to have partnered with you as a SEND supporter and will share our testimony on a monthly basis, covering all aspects of ministry and mission!

Finally – after a long, cold, hard, winter…okay maybe it wasn’t that long, cold, or hard – but today winter is over! And this makes me a very excited ministry leader and gardener!
Because this time of year my thoughts turn to growing things, planting things, and seeing life burst back into all of the living things in my yard. There is something about the “greening” of the grass, trees, flower beds that excites me and fills me with great hope about what is to come with new growth in the Spring.
I have seen that happen over the last year in our ministry. While we have experienced some of our toughest days financially due to the downturn in the economy, I have seen life burst back into our ministry with the addition of Servants Equipping New Disciples, SEND. This new ministry initiative was launched from a clear vision, mission, and purpose that our ministry was to help churches connect with young adults, disciple them, and raise them up to be strong Christian leaders in their churches and their communities. This initiative also strengthens our core philosophy of ministry that Christianity spreads most effectively through relationships.
Because the movement grows and spreads as relationships grow. When well tended to and cared for, this growth can provide life changing fruit – just like in my garden. And this makes me a very happy ministry leader and gardener!
I came across this bit of scripture today and it inspired me to write this post to share what we are doing this Spring to advance the movement, Servants Equipping New Disciples.
“May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!” (Romans 15:13, MSG)
We are hosting several Compass Events throughout the mid-west to introduce churches and communities to SEND. Our hope and prayer is we will start building on new relationships and through these relationships the movement with grow and spread. We believe God has placed in our path young adults, church leaders, teachers, prayer partners, and donors for us to meet in 2012. We believe this because God has already raised up these people since the launch of SEND. We believe He is calling us to build these types of relationships.
We also know we are called to share the joy, and life giving energy that comes from being around the young adults currently in SEND. These young adults will inspire you and make you to want to be 24 again!
I hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather, and I truly hope you will consider attending or hosting one of these upcoming Compass Events at your church or in your community. I guarantee you will be filled with joy when you see the fruit growing from this movement. I know once you hear about the changes taking place in the lives of these young adults through SEND, and how God is using these young adults to make an impact in the Kingdom, you will brim over with hope for young adults today. And that should make us all very happy Christians.
While I was sitting in a teaching session in SEND last week I had an “A-Ha” moment. Some might call them a Kairos moment, or use the expression “a light bulb just went off.” However, this one was really intense. It felt like I was kicked in the gut, as I sat there thinking in stunned silence: “Thank you Lord. Thank you. Thank you Lord.” Read the entire article and the rest of the newsletter.
Each year Church Doctor Ministries travels to Sheffield, England for a special mission immersion experience. This year we are super excited to offer this opportunity to those who are interested in learning more about Servants Equipping New Disciples (SEND). This is a special trip!
You will be traveling with a team of people from all over North America. You’ll get to experience what it is like to be a part of a movement that is spreading across England, Europe, North America and other parts of the world.
Why should you go all the way to England? You will get to experience the movement right from the grassroots level. You’ll have a chance to better understand the culture and context of the movement and experience a complete missional immersion trip that is not like anything in North America.
This trip is for young adults, pastors, ministry leaders, church members, and Christians who want to learn first hand about revival and discipleship development within the context of the missional movement. You’ll learn more than just how to start a missional community. Your travel team leaders will spend time with you talking through the things you are learning and seeing to help you better understand how the missional movement can impact your personal and professional ministry.
Many young adults will be home for the holidays and asking themselves after their first experience with college or university where God might really be calling them.
Many young adults have chosen not to go to school but to pursue something else for their lives. Some might just want to take a break from what they are doing now and just learn how to be a better Christian, or grow stronger or deeper in their Christian faith.
If you know a young adult or are a young adult seeking something more, consider learning more about SEND North America. SEND will help you grow closer to God and understand the unique mission He created you to fulfill.
Here are just a few things young adults currently in SEND are saying about their experience….
There has been a change in me. Two months ago I wouldn’t say I was a strong Christian, but God has changed my way of thinking from my needs, my wants, into constant communication with Him.
I already find myself asking questions like, “What can I do to serve God fully, without my human strings attached?”
I have found that Christianity is not easy! I must surrender my ways of living, my hopes and dreams, and even my perception of who I am and who I will become if I am to be the tool God created me to be.
We have been challenged to step out of our comfort zone and move when the Spirit says. Through our obedience, others will have the strength and hunger to follow God at a deeper level.
